Peripheral Neuropathy

Weakness, numbness, and pain from nerve damage, usually in the hands and feet.

Why We Specialize In PN?

Founders of the “San Antonio Neuropathy Center” became frustrated with the standard medical care being offered to patients suffering with Peripheral Neuropathy. Patients suffering with neuropathy are told, “The cause of neuropathy is unknown and once you have neuropathy – it’s permanent; you just need to learn to live with it”.

Causes of Peripheral Neuropathy

There are many causes of neuropathy. Chronic neuropathy can begin when your nerves undergo a state of anoxia. This is a condition in which the nerve is deprived of oxygen. Nerves can also become damaged when they are poisoned by continual exposure to toxic chemicals, which accumulate in the body.

PN Treatments

Most patients, who come to our clinic, have usually seen multiple doctors (family doctor, podiatrist, neurologist); and have gone through extensive testing procedures such as NCV, EMG, blood work, CT, and MRI. However, despite all the extensive testing procedures, treatments typically fall into the following categories.

Myths About Peripheral Neuropathy

Although Peripheral Neuropathy is commonly labeled, “Idiopathic” (meaning of unknown origin) by many doctors, there is a tremendous amount of research about the causes and the ability of these nerves to regenerate under the proper treatment conditions.

Types Of Neuropathy

There are three types of peripheral nerves: motor, sensory, and autonomic. Some neuropathies affect all three types of nerves, while others may affect only one or two.
